This week Gower Street launched the first episode of its new podcast: Box Office & Beyond.
Hosted by Tom Lashley, an experienced box office analyst in Gower Street’s Film & Insights Team, Box Office & Beyond is a relaxed look at all things box office and, well, beyond!
In this first episode Tom explains the purpose of the podcast and outlines just some of the kinds of topics he’ll mull over in future episodes, either by himself or in discussion with Gower Street colleagues and external industry guests. These can, of course, include box office news, latest trailers, looking ahead at what’s to come, looking back to what has been, and much more which will develop over time.
This episode covers an introductory touch of Gower Street’s history and the first in a series of ‘Look Ahead to Summer’ segments focusing on Pixar’s ELEMENTAL and the “Disney+ conundrum”. In this Tom asks the question: After disappointing results for post-Disney+ Disney animated releases LIGHTYEAR and STRANGE WORLD last year, might a continuing use of the theatrical model for Disney animation hinge on upcoming results for ELEMENTAL?
Box Office & Beyond is available on Spotify.
Tune in here (and be prepared to be humming the theme tune for the rest of the day!):
