Gower Street’s Chief Analyst of Theatrical Insights, Thomas Beranek, was a panellist last Thursday (April 23) on Comscore’s first German coronavirus webinar focused on the impact of COVID-19 on the local theatrical industry. The webinar attracted a lot of attention in the German media, with Germany’s two leading movie industry websites mediabiz.de and filmecho.de both covering the event.
The webinar was hosted by Bernd Zickert, General Manager Germany, Austria, Netherlands & Turkey at Comscore Movies. Thomas joined featured panellists including Oliver Koppert, Managing Director at Constantin Film Distribution; Mag. Christof Papousek, CFO Cineplexx; Heiko Desch, Drive-In Cinema exhibitor and Mychael Berg, representing DAS KINOFEST.
Thomas introduced Gower Street’s multiple activities and discussed the global effect of the virus on the theatrical business so far including some of the graphs we have created to track the global box office. A key part of the webinar was the admission-based 5-stage markers for the German market of Gower Street’s “Blueprint To Recovery,” which Thomas shared exclusively. Both the articles in Mediabiz and Filmecho highlighted the “Blueprint To Recovery” within detailed summaries of the content discussed.
