With the latest DCEU title, SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS, released into global cinemas this week, Gower Street’s Director of Theatrical Insights, Rob Mitchell, was interviewed for the latest issue of Germany’s CINEMA magazine about the recently announced new plans for the DC Universe.

Speaking with CINEMA’s Oliver Noelle for the March 2023 print issue, Rob discussed the disappointing box office results of last fall’s BLACK ADAM, and James Gunn’s subsequently revealed long-term vision for a new-look DCU. The article featured a break-out interview with Rob, as well as including comments within the main article.

Asked if there was space in the cinematic calendar for 2-3 DC movies a year as well as a similar amount of Marvel titles Rob suggested there was, citing previous year’s such as 2016 (when comic-book titles including DEADPOOL, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, SUICIDE SQUAD, and DOCTOR STRANGE all released to strong results – the first three all in consecutive months). He also likened Gunn’s ambitious 10-year plan to the kind of unifying vision previous seen in the early days of Pixar and at the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008.

The interview (and Rob’s comments in the first page of the main article) can be read in the original German below.
