Gower Street CEO Dimitrios Mitsinikos spoke to Fortune this week about the box office success, and sequel potential, of TOP GUN: MAVERICK. The article, titled ‘Top Gun 3? Analysts say a follow-up to the movie the saved the box office will be irresistible‘, was published Friday June 17.
Speaking to Fortune journalist Tristan Bove, Dimitrios said TOP GUN: MAVERICK was set to become Tom Cruise’s first $1 billion global blockbuster, pointing out that films in that club remain relatively rare. “It would make perfect business sense for Paramount and its producing partners to further exploit the theatrical success of this production,” Dimitrios told Fortune. He also pointed to the fact that the sequel had achieved this success without releasing in the #1 international box office territory: China.
Bove also spoke to Comscore’s Paul Dergarabedian who suggested a further TOP GUN movie “would be a guaranteed hit down the runway in the future”.
