CNBC featured Gower Street’s global cinema data in a new article looking at how the Domestic market is faring compared to International in the current crisis. The article, by Sarah Whitten, was titled “‘We’d all be sitting in our favorite theaters’: Dire outlook for cinemas as coronavirus resurges in U.S.”
The wide-ranging article discussed the international recovery data, featured in Gower Street’s Road To Recovery reports, which showed that half of the world’s movie theaters were back in operation. However, over 90% of these were outside of the Domestic market.
The article also looked at some of the local titles doing dynamic business in international markets. These included Spanish hit FATHER THERE IS ONLY ONE 2, on which Gower Street advised producers on different potential release scenarios. It also spoke to Comscore’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian and Box Office Analyst’s President Doug Stone.
